A Fashionable and Fantastic Prom

The Prom has been an American time-honored tradition since the 19th century, and Blake High is not only keeping the tradition strong for it’s beloved Yellow Jackets, it’s planned to be the best Prom yet. Senior Council President, Ladeja Moore has certainly had an influence on the theme, “Fashion & Fantasy” as it reflects her own love for fashion design, and her keen awareness that Blake is the most well dressed in the area.

The Cuban Club in historic Ybor City is where the Prom will be held. This building is not actually a club anymore, so parents, heave a relieved sigh because no alcohol will be available. Yet at one time, it was a club, known as the, “El Circulo Cubano” meaning, “Circle of Cubans” which was aimed at providing mutual aid in the 19th and 20th century for Cubans that lived in the area.  This feeling of community has not been lost as the Cuban Club was re-imagined into a popular spot for concerts, and yes, a Prom.

Tickets are currently on sale in the Glass Box for 90 dollars. They will be on sale for three weeks, but don’t wait because there are only so many tickets, and if you start thinking, “Oh tomorrow”, then tomorrow will just turn into another, “tomorrow” and your chance at nabbing a ticket will slip by.

If you have any questions please ask the super capable Mrs. Tiffany Johnson, one of Blake’s best Biology teachers and she will get back to you as soon as she can.  The best way to get a hold of her is to visit her in B322, or to use Edsby to send her a quick message.
